Elvis' Birthplace

We’re definitely in Elvis mode now!! After checking out of our accommodation it was straight to Elvis’ Birthplace. It's been a few years since I was here last so it was great to be back. We arrived just after the 9am opening time which worked really well. It wasn't hot (yet) and it was quiet with many of the Labor Day visitors arriving an hour or so after us.
As you can expect we got the full tour which includes a video experience in the church Elvis attended as a child and then his early home where he was born.
The church was great and you get to watch a video reenactment of a church service with a young Elvis singing. The church was moved to this location in 2006 after having been converted to a four bedroom home in the 60s. The front of the building is original and the pulpit is also the original and was donated about 20 years ago. Floor boards and walls are largely replacements but a section of flooring is known to be original, so as you can expect, I stood there, likely where Elvis also once stood. Had a great chat with Barbara too who clearly loves her job!
We then went to Elvis’ home where he was born. I think it’s in the video but Vernon, Elvis' dad paid $180 for the 2 room home (bedroom and kitchen/dining room). This building is in its original location and has a collection of original and donated pieces from the time. The wood fired stove is original for example.
We then walked around the grounds as the temperature was just right, likely high 20s. We probably spent close to 3 hours here.
Absolute dream being back, a bit of an emotional and I would say spiritual experience.
